Born in California, she earned a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, worked for the Hawaii Department of Health and did textile design with emphasis on indigo dyeing. Kamaka Yamamoto, 80, of Hilo died Aug. 16 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kapaau, he was a security guard for Securitas and U.S. Navy veteran.
