John Charlton FitzGerald II, 78, of Hakalau, died Aug. 28 at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was raised on Molokai Ranch and later lived in Yuba City, Calif., attended California Polytechnic State University, was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and a Bronze Star recipient, worked in the Hawaii sugar industry, was a retired manager for Pacific Machinery on Maui, roper and rancher, co-founder of Hawaii Carriage Driving Society, past president of the Maui Rotary Club, current member of the Rotary Club of South Hilo, America Cowboy Team Roping Association, and a Paul Harris Fellow. Graveside service noon Monday, Aug. 31, in the pavilion at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Space is limited. Social distancing and face masks required. Celebration of life to be held at a later date.
