Lefty Hiroshi Kawazoe, 95, of Hilo, a resident of Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, died Aug. 31 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahoa, he was a retired manager from the former Amfac Lihue Plantation and Puna Sugar Co., U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Taishoji Soto Mission, Kyu Pahoa Kumiai, Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai and Pahoa, Keaau Senior Retirees and Club 36 golf clubs. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Gary Takao Kaukaokalani Okamura, 69, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Pepeekeo, died July 15 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, mechanic for U.S. Department of Defense and Hawaiian Airlines and U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. Services at a later date.
