According to the advisory, a mix of rain and snow, with snow accumulations of around 1 inch, is expected.
The Maunakea Weather Center on Tuesday afternoon said fog, ice, thick clouds and periods of flurries will continue at the Maunakea summit through the night, with the possibility for short periods of heavy snow.
Summit temperatures will drop to around 28 degrees overnight, according to the MKWC.
The National Weather Service also issued a flood advisory for Hawaii County Tuesday afternoon, including North and South Kona, North and South Kohala and interior areas of the island.
According to the NWS, wet weather will prevail over the next few days as a deep low-pressure system to the north pushes a front across portions of Hawaii.
While heavy showers and thunderstorms could develop anywhere, the NWS forecast said the greatest threat for heavy rainfall will be in the western half of the state through today.
The low-pressure system will remain north of the state Thursday and Friday, likely sending bands of showers across the state, but the system will move to the northeast during the weekend, leading to decreased shower activity.
