Three new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday on the Big Island, bringing the island’s total to 2,132.
The new cases were among 103 new cases reported statewide by the state Department of Health. Oahu reported 64 new cases, while Maui County reported 27 and Kauai none. One resident was diagnosed outside the state.
Hawaii County on Wednesday had a 1% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 2.5%.
To date, there have been 25,442 people throughout the state who tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 82 people were hospitalized Wednesday, including two on Hawaii Island. To date, 2,050 people have required hospitalization, including 112 on Hawaii Island.
Three new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Wednesday by the state; two on Oahu and one on Maui. Of the 404 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 322 were on Oahu, 25 were on Maui, 53 were on Hawaii Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
Hawaii Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.5% Wednesday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
