Hui Malama Ola Na ‘Oiwi announces new leadership

Hui Malama Ola Na ‘Oiwi (Hui Malama), the Native Hawaiian Health Care System of Hawaii Island, is pleased to announce the selection of Lehua Andrade as its new executive director.

Andrade began her new role on Jan. 11. Having previously worked at Hui Malama in community outreach and leadership positions, she has a keen knowledge of the organization’s mission and vision, and has demonstrated her expertise in community health care, collaboration, and program implementation.

The Hui Malama board of directors is excited for this next step and Board Chair Noelani Ho‘opai says, “Lehua comes to us with over 10 years of experience in the health care field, program development with outcomes and deliverables, networking, and is intimately familiar with the Health Resources and Services Administration guidelines and requirements. Working as a team that builds on communication and trust is one of her many positive attributes that she also brings to HMONO.”

Andrade will work closely with Hui Malama staff to ensure the organization can continue to adapt and serve the community through the COVID-19 pandemic. Emphasizing adaptation and growth, Andrade says, “This is an interesting time we live in and it provides us with a great opportunity to innovate and transform how we do business. Our mission in uplifting the health of the people of Hawaii and of our Hawaiian Nation is foremost.”

A non-profit, Hui Malama serves as the Native Hawaiian health care system for Hawaii Island, providing medical, behavioral health and community education services with the sole objective of improving access to quality healthcare, education, and services for the people of Hawaii.
