This followed several days of “minor progressively intermittent activity” confined to a small pond north of the west vent cone, HVO reported today.

The lava lake began rising at about 6:30 a.m. this morning and by 8:20 a.m. had risen 11 meters (36 feet).

All recent lava activity has been confined to the crater, and there are no indications of activity migrating elsewhere on Kilauea, according to HVO.
