Increased military air presence in Hilo part of National Guard exercise
The Hawaii National Guard said today the increase in military aircraft doing takeoffs and landings at Hilo International Airport is a National Guard exercise.
The exercise is scheduled to conclude on March 11.
Visiting units are taking part in training exercises with the units from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam units. Those visiting units include fighter aircraft from Alaska and C-130s from the Nevada Air National Guard.
According to the Hawaii National Guard, the exercise is a training opportunity intended to evaluate the 15th Wing and Hawaii Air National Guard’s ability to generate and deploy combat power.
