Francis Lucky Shafer, 69, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 23 at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Pago Pago, American Samoa, he was the owner of Lucky’s Concrete Pumping. He was a 4th degree black belt kempo karate instructor, professional musical entertainer, Konawaena High School football coach, he volunteered his time for search and rescue, and donated his concrete pumping services to Hawaii Island parks and schools. Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2nd Ward in Kailua-Kona, for an 11 a.m. funeral service.
