Born in Honolulu, he was owner/operator of BJ’s Performance Service and a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran. Memorial service 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Puna Seventh-day Adventist Church on Kaloli Drive, Keaau. Procession at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 from Pahoa High School to a celebration of life at noon at Uncle Robert Keliihoomalu’s residence in Kaimu, Kalapana. Casual attire; flowers and lei welcome. Matthew “Matt” Bonner Lee, 52, of Holualoa died Feb. 5 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was owner/operator of Lee LP Service propane distributor, member of the Big Island Body Surfing group and champion surfer who competed in Da Hui Waimea Bay Shorebreak Slam, 2013. Hidetaka “Paisan” Sato, 89, of Honauanu died Jan. 18 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honaunau, he was a retired carpenter, coffee farmer, member of Kona Hongwanji, Hookena Kumiai, Hilo Daijingu and Kona Koyasan Daishiji Mission, and U.S. Army veteran who served with the 442nd Infantry Battalion in WWII. Services held. Survived by son, Alvin (Eilene) Sato of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Claudia (Larry Evans) Sato of Honaunau; brother, Kenji (Mieko) Sato of Honaunau; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Kenneth Kwai Sung Tam, 69, of Hilo, formerly of Pepeekeo, died Jan. 20 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Facility. Born in Pepeekeo, he worked for KTA Super Stores in downtown Hilo and was a member of Trinity Community Church and Kulaimano Family Community Education Club.
