“The Land of Eb,” a feature film produced entirely on the Big Island of Hawaii, is being released worldwide Tuesday on digital platforms, including iTunes and Google Play.
The film, which won the Best Hawaiian Feature award at the 2013 Big Island Film Festival, is loosely based on local Marshallese immigrant Jonithen Jackson, who also plays the lead character, Jacob.
“It’s been a long road, but we knew we had a story people would connect with and that it would eventually find its audience” said the film’s director, Andrew Williamson. “We’ve had numerous requests here in Hawaii and elsewhere to screen the film especially from educators and social activist groups. It’s having a positive impact in our community way beyond what we originally imagined.”
Alongside its digital release, the DVD, which includes extra content about the making of the film, will be available for purchase on the film’s website at www.thelandofeb.com.
