Dennis Tetsuo Matsuyama, 79, of Keaukaha died May 30 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired research associate and soil scientist for the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculutre and Human Resources, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, former leader of Boy Scouts Troop 7, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Keaukaha Ward and several bowling leagues and golf clubs. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Friday, June 30, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Ave. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire. Born in Puako, he was the retired owner of the former Aloha Equipment Service, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3830.
