3-year-old boy critically injured in North Kona crash
A three-year-old Kailua-Kona boy suffered critical head injuries in a two-vehicle collision late Friday night.
According to police, the crash occurred on the Queen Kaahumanu Highway south of Kaiminani Drive, near the 93.5-mile marker in North Kona.

Officers responding to a 11 p.m. call determined a northbound green 2007 Nissan Altima driven by a 26-year-old Waimea woman rear-ended a gray 2018 Nissan Altima driven by a 32-year-old Kailua-Kona man.
The male driver was pulling over to assist a friend who was having vehicle issues and was parked in the gravel median.
The 32-year-old male driver, his 26-year-old girlfriend, their 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were all taken by ambulance to Kona Community Hospital for initial treatment.
The 3-year-old boy was subsequently medivaced to a hospital on Oahu where he was listed in critical condition. His parents and sister were later released from the hospital.
The 26-year-old Waimea woman was later arrested on suspicion of: negligent injury; DUI; and driving after license suspended for DUI.
She remained in custody at the Kealakehe Police Station while police investigate.
