Dora, now a category-4 storm, still far away from Hawaii
UPDATE 5:30 p.m.:
Hurricane Dora is now a category-4 tropical cyclone packing maximum sustained winds of 140 mph.

At 5 p.m., the center of Dora was about 1.070 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula.
It is still far away from Hawaii, about 2,100 miles east-southeast of Hilo.
Dora is moving to the west at about 18 mph and this general motion is expected to continue during the next several days.
The current forecast track, should it hold, will take Hurricane Dora well south of the Big Island on Tuesday.
Some weakening is forecast during the next day or so, but Dora is forecast to be near or at major hurricane intensity through much of the weekend.
Dora is a small hurricane. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles from the storm’s center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles.

Dora, now a major hurricane, continues its trek toward the Central Pacific basin.
As of 5 a.m. today, the center of Hurricane Dora was about 875 miles southwest of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Maximum sustained winds are 125 mph with higher gusts, making Dora a category-3 storm.
Some gradual weakening is forecast during the next couple of days.
Dora is moving west at about 18 mph, and this direction and forward speed is forecast to continue for the next few days.
Dora is still far from Hawaii — about 2,300 miles east-southeast of Hilo.
The current forecast track, should it hold, will take Hurricane Dora well south of the Big Island on Tuesday.
