Dora, still a major hurricane, expected to track south of Hawaii on Tuesday
Hurricane Dora, still a major tropical cyclone, continues its rapid westward track across the Central Pacific Basin.
At 5 a,m. today, the center of the storm was 675 miles southeast of Hilo. Dora remains a category-3 storm, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 mph, and is moving west at 23 mph.
The current forecast track should take Dora far south of Hawaii, but interests on Johnston Island are advised to monitor the storm’s progress.
Some slow and gradual weakening is expected to take place over the next 48 hours.
