All talented graphic designers, artists and creative residents of Hawaii, age 16 and up, are eligible to enter the free logo contest to help the Waimea Arts Council commemorate its 50th anniversary with a new logo.
The winner will receive a cash award of $200 plus a free one-year participating artist-level membership, with opportunities to merchandise artwork in the Firehouse Gallery.
The new logo will be the face of the Waimea Arts Council and be showcased on all promotional materials and social media platforms and on its website.
Waimea Arts Council’s mission is to promote the arts, encourage artists and provide everyone access to art, education and creative experiences that foster a thriving community, culture and economy.
Being the oldest nonprofit of its kind in North Hawaii, the art council was formed in 1974. Four years later Waimea Arts Council gained nonprofit status. In 1980, the group acquired and transformed the old firehouse and firemen’s bunkhouse, located in the Waimea Historic Corner Park, into the Firehouse Gallery for showcasing members’ artworks.
Online submissions are due September 23. The contest rules are at the website: https://www.waimeaartscouncil.org/wac-logo-contest/.
