Chance Salva added eight kills and Makana Loo posted nine digs in the 18-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-19 victory for the Dragons (6-4), who lead HawaiI Prep (5-4) by a half-game.
Ka’u (5-5) lost to Waiakea 25-13, 25-14, 25-18 to fall a full game behind. The Trojans and Dragons finish the regular season Saturday, while Ka Makani has matches remaining today and at Kohala and Friday at Hilo. An outright regular-season champions will earn an automatic berth to the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament.
The Cowboys (3-6) and Pahoa (4-6) are contending for the final spot in the BIIF Division II semifinals, and those two team face off Saturday in Pahoa.
In Divsion I, the Waveiders (6-5) were already assured the fourth seed and a matchup with Kamehameha (10-0) on April 25 in the BIIF Division I semifinals at the their gym. Waiakea (10-1) and Hilo (9-1) will meet in the other semifinal. Kamehameha can clinch a state berth when it faces the Vikings today.
