BIIF DI and DII volleyball action rolled along over the weekend — and after notching two victories, Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i moved up to No. 3 in the Honolulu Star Advertiser’s Top 10, as reported Tuesday.

WARRIORS NOTCH TWO MORE SWEEPS
KSH moved to 7-0 in BIIF play and 15-1 overall (including invitational tournaments) with two home, 3-0 victories — against Kealakehe HS on Friday and against Kea‘au HS on Monday.
So far this season, the Warriors still have not lost a single set to any BIIF opponent.
KSH defeated Kealakehe in sets of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-13 again.
Against the Waveriders, Shay Beals led the Warriors’ offense with six kills and five aces. Madison Rose Marsh and Camryn Grace trailed with five kills each, and Ziona Launiu led with six aces.
Maile Kuamoo had 19 assists — and Kealohi Dudoit led KSH’s defense with seven digs, receiving 14 serves.
Lina Husek led Kealakehe’s offense with nine kills. Chanel Domingo-Felton led the Waveriders’ defense with 19 digs.
On Monday, the Warriors routed the Cougars in sets of 25-3, 25-9 and 25-11.
Maela Honma led KSH’s offense, notching nine kills on 13 attempts (69.2%). On defense, Dudoit led with 14 digs.
Kuamoo also had a high rate of success — recording 21 assists on 33 attempts (63.6%). On top of that, she also notched a whopping seven kills.
The Cougars struggled on offense, but their defense was led by Levlynn Kepano with six digs.
Kea‘au and Kealakehe share the bottom BIIF DI standing, each holding 0-4 records. The pair are the only DI teams who have not yet encountered one another. Their first meeting is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 26 on the Waveriders’ home court.
Kea‘au’s next test will be today at Waiakea HS. JV starts at 5 p.m., varsity follows.
Kealakehe’s next outing will also be at Waiakea — at 10 a.m. Saturday.
KSH’s only game this week will be tonight at Hilo HS — JV starts at 5 p.m., varsity follows.
The KSH JV team also defeated their opponents — 25-9 and 25-13 over Kealakehe, then 25-8 and 25-6 over Kea‘au.

CARDINALS SPLIT WEEKEND
St. Joseph School saw mixed success, falling 3-0 to Konawaena on Saturday night at home before sweeping Kanu ‘o ka ‘Aina Charter on Monday at Laupahoehoe HS.
The Wildcats defeated the Cardinals in straight sets of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-12. SJS bounced back with a bigger victory, defeating Kanu in sets of 25-10, 25-8 and 25-16.
Now 4-0, Konawaena stands at No. 3 in BIIF DII — nipping at the heels of Ka‘u and Hawaii Prep, who are tied for No. 1 with 5-0 records. Tonight, Konawaena will look to bridge that gap, playing away at Christian Liberty Academy (0-5).
St. Joseph is starting to recover from its rocky start. After going 0-3 during the first few weeks of the season, the Cardinals have advanced to 2-4 within the past week. SJS will have this week off, and its next test will be away at CLA on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Now at 0-6 for its innaugural season, Kanu ‘o ka ‘Aina is still chasing its first-ever victory. Kanu will face a road test Saturday morning at CLA, where one of the winless teams will emerge with their first victory.
