PAHOA 60 – CLA 4
Pahoa High’s girls basketball team crushed local DII rival Christian Liberty Academy, by 60-4, on Tuesday night at the PHS gymnasium.
This was the Daggers’ second win on the season, elevating their record to 2-6.
Ariana Kobayashi led Pahoa with 11 points — followed by Azariah Brown and Remedy Gonzalez, who each scored eight points.
The Canefire’s scorers were Shiloh Glenn with three points and Alex Gray with one point.
The Daggers’ next matchup will be another Puna rivalry game — against Kea‘au High (2-6) at 6 p.m. on Friday in Pahoa.
Now 0-7, CLA will trudge onward — next facing BIIF DI leader Konawaena High (8-1) on Friday night in Kealakekua.

HHIS 48 – KEA‘AU 8
Honoka‘a High’s girls varsity basketball team thrashed Kea‘au High 48-8 on Tuesday night at HHIS.
Rylee Velazquez had a massive outing, posting 21 points for the Dragons.
Teammate Telia Iaeli scored 16 points.
Honoka‘a advanced a to a more comfortable, 5-3 record. The Dragons’ next showing will be against nearby Parker School (2-3) at 5 p.m. on Saturday in Waimea.
Kea‘au is now on a five-game skid, its record falling to 2-6 after Tuesday.
The Cougars will look to get back on their feet this weekend, playing away at Pahoa.

POSTPONED GAMES
Two Hawaii Prep games scheduled for Tuesday were cancelled due to bad driving conditions: a girls game at Ka‘u High and a boys game at Christian Liberty.
The girls game was rescheduled to Wednesday, results will be published soon.
The boys’ game was moved to Jan. 15 (Monday).
