The Wildcats remained undefeated, moving to 9-0 and maintaining their No. 1 standing in BIIF Division II as they approach their final regular season outing — an away game on Friday at Honoka‘a High.
Ka ‘Umeke fell to 2-7, and is now also one game out from its season finale. Ka ‘Umeke’s final game will be Saturday morning against Kanu ‘o ka ‘Aina Charter (2-7) at Waimea District Park. The two teams are now tied for the No. 8 standing in BIIF DII, which is also the lowest playoff berth in the league. Saturday’s result will determine which of the league’s two Hawaiian immersion charter schools will achieve a program-first entry into the BIIF playoffs.

WAIAKEA 3 – KEA‘AU 1
Waiakea High’s boys varsity volleyball team won its third game on the season and second over Kea‘au, prevailing against the Cougars in a tight, four-set battle on Tuesday night in Hilo.
The Warriors won the first set 25-15, then Kea‘au won the second 25-21. Waiakea won the next two in a row — 25-20 and 26-24.
Now 3-6, the Warriors will next face Hilo High on Friday at home. The last time the cross-town rivals squared up was more than a month ago, when the Vikings came away with the sweep.
Kea‘au dropped to 1-9, and will round off its regular season with two home games next week — versus Hilo on Monday and Kealakehe High on Wednesday.
