Paul Richard Evander, 65, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., formerly of Kalapana, died May 14 at Houston Mesa Campground in Payson, Ariz. Born in Whittier, Calif., he was a finishing carpenter, skier, snowboarder, hang glider, paraglider and camping nomad. Private services. Glenn Takao Shiraishi, 73, of Hilo, died May 24 at home. Born in Hilo, he was retired from Waiakea High School and a member of United Public Workers, Big Island Independent Bikers Motorcycle Club and former member of KOA Puna Motorcycle Club. Nona Burnetta Wilson, 82, of Volcano died May 17 at home. She was a retired nurse, former assistant director of Ka‘u Hospital and director of the Kaiser-Permanente emergency room in Honolulu, former flight attendant for Aloha Airlines who danced in promotional tours for the airline, a professional hula dancer in Waikiki and in the legendary former Hawaiian Room of the Lexington Hotel in New York City. She was part of the “Lexington Ladies,” a group of Lexington Hotel entertainment alumni that starred in the 2022 Merrie Monarch Festival’s Ho‘ike and served as grand marshals for Merrie Monarch’s Royal Parade that year. Private services held. Survived by husband, Herb Wilson; son, Keoni Kramer; stepchildren Craig Wilson, Bryan Wilson and Nalani Wilson Hokowhitu; sister, Marie Kramer Johnson; brothers, Matthew and Rickey Kramer; two grandchildren and a great-grandson; seven nephews and a niece.
