Keaau seeking
softball coach
Keaau High will be accepting applications for junior varsity/varsity softball coach.
Those interested may pick up an application at the school’s main office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
The deadline to submit an application is June 13, and all applicants must be willing to complete an interview and background check as part of the selection process.

Registration and practice for Piopio Bears 8-and-under teams will be held at 3:15 p.m. at Hilo Armory.
Players must be between ages 5 and 8 before Dec. 31, and practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

soccer camps set
The Big Island I.D. Soccer Camp will be held June 23-26 at Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
The camp, featuring guest coaches from Southern California’s top club programs, is divided into two sessions ($165):
—Youth Camp, Under 7-U14, runs from 8 a.m. to noon.
—College I.D. Camp, U15-U18, runs from 3 to 6 p.m.

Hawaii Island
Hoops Camp
The Hawaii Island Hoops College-Prep Basketball Camp will be held June 16-20 at the Konawaena High School.
The camp, under the direction of Andy Smith, offers skill development and introduces youngsters them to college-style workouts and training.
Smith, a former UH-Hilo standout, will be joined on the teaching staff by college coaches from the junior college, NAIA and NCAA levels.
The camp fee is $350 and includes a Nike reversible jersey and shorts, college coaching and instruction, all meals, daily seminars on academic requirements, financial aid and athletic recruitment, plus a beach trip.
