KSH 34, HPA 20
Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i girls basketball started its season strong with a convincing 34-20 win over Hawaii Preparatory Academy on Tuesday night inside Castle Gymnasium.
The Warriors held the lead for the entirety of the game, which included a 10-0 first quarter. KSH entered halftime with a 21-4 lead.
Ka Makani eased into the game in the second half by outscoring the Warriors 16-13, but it wasn’t enough to offset KSH’s first-half onslaught.
The Warriors were led by Kacie Febo-Santiago, who added a game-high nine points. Teammate Maci Lonokapu added six, followed by Shailan Benevides and Xiona Yagin with five each.
HPA was led by Rosey Wawner, who scored six.
KSH will next take the court Monday night against Christian Liberty Academy in Kea‘au. Ka Makani will host Ka‘u at 3 p.m. this afternoon at home.

Honoka‘a girls volleyball blitzed the visiting Kealakehe Waveriders on Tuesday night in Honoka‘a down. Winning 51-12, Kealakehe was overwhelmed by the Dragons’ stifling defense and high-octane offense.
Telia Laeli led Honoka‘a with a game-high 27 points, followed by teammate Ava Tabucbuc with 13.
Tamara Farmer-Duarte led the Waveriders with six points.
While the Dragons’ next matchup is to be announced, Kealakehe will travel south of town to face Konawaena on Tuesday night inside Ellison Onizuka Gymnasium.
