The Kahilu Theatre in Waimea will present a concert by the Waimea Community Chorus, “Peace, Light &Love,” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Waimea Community Chorus, formed in the fall of 1993, has been bringing the joy of choral music to the community for over 30 years. Under the direction of Barbara Kopra since 2005, the chorus has grown into a vibrant ensemble of over 50 voices.
This concert celebrates the milestone of the chorus’s 30th Winter Concert, offering a selection of songs and music that reflect themes of harmony and togetherness.
The festive program spans a variety of genres, from the classical beauty of Mozart and Haydn’s “Dona Nobis Pacem” to the soulful sounds of gospel and spirituals like “Peace in the Valley” and “I’ve Got Peace Like a River.” Seasonal favorites such as “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” along with the beloved pop classic “Peace Train,” are highlights of a varied and engaging repertoire.
This year, the chorus brings together vocalists ranging in age from 13 to 86, united by their shared passion for singing.
From first-time performers to seasoned vocalists, the chorus welcomes singers of all levels to join in creating music for the community.
Tickets for this festive concert are $35 for adults/$15 for children. Additional service fees may apply.
