Jayda Favela came across the plate to score both of the Vulcans runs, first scoring in the opening frame on a wild pitch and later in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly by Victoria Macias.
The senior shortstop was credited with three hits, one home run shy of the cycle, as Favela’s two runs brought her career total to 115 to move to No. 5 in the Vulcans record books — surpassing Colleen Aubrey (‘12-‘15).
Favela is currently No. 2 in Division II with 58 total hits on the season, sitting right behind Pittsburg State’s Heather Arnett.
Hawai’i Hilo moved to 12-9 in the PacWest (18-16 overall) as Dominican moved to a 11-8 conference record (20-15 overall).
Vulcans remain at No. 6 in the current conference standings with Dominican one spot ahead.
