The Big Island Substance Abuse Council has brought on Judi Steinmann, Ph.D., Bill Walter, Catherine Kamau and the Rev. Moki Hino to serve on its board of directors.
Steinmann is the program coordinator of the Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy. She is the recording secretary of the North Hilo Community Council, a volunteer at the Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School, a member of the Interfaith Community in Action and a past board member of the Laupahoehoe Train Museum.
Walter is the President of WH Shipman Limited and has been involved with the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island, the Hawai‘i Island and Japanese chambers of commerce and the Hawai‘i Island Economic Development Board.
Kamau is the senior marketing specialist with HPM Building Supply and has been involved with New Hope Hawaii: Celebrate Recovery, Prison and Hula Ministries, Camp Agape Big Island, Camp Agape Oahu, Hawaii Island Food Basket’s Hootenanny and ‘Ahahui Ka‘ahumanu ‘Ekolu.
Hino is the rector of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles in Hilo and also serves on the Hospice of Hilo, the HIV/AIDS Foundation and the Arc of Hilo Boards. Hino brings some depth of history to his seat on the BISAC Board of Directors, since it was a former Church of the Holy Apostles Rector, the Rev. Gerald Loweth, who started BISAC 50 years ago.
