A 33-year-old Kailua-Kona man was sentenced Monday by a federal judge to almost 13 years in prison for distributing more than a pound of crystal methamphetamine.
Senior U.S. District Judge Alan Kay handed down the 155-month sentence to Kali Lotoaiki Laulea. A federal jury in Honolulu found Laulea guilty of three counts of methamphetamine distribution after a 5-day trial in August.
Florence T. Nakakuni, U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawaii, said that the evidence presented at trial showed Laulea knowingly distributed a total of 484 grams of pure crystal methamphetamine during the course of three drug transactions Laulea conducted in Kailua-Kona during August 2013.
