The June 27 lava flow was about 0.9 miles from Highway 130 on Wednesday morning after advancing about 220 yards in the past day, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said late Tuesday evening the flow could reach Pahoa Marketplace and the highway in about five days.
Smoke conditions were moderate to heavy. A light north wind was blowing smoke from burning vegetation in a south-southeast direction.
A community meeting on the lava flow will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Pahoa High School cafeteria.
