Shizuka Motoishi, 92, of Pepeekeo died Dec. 15 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Onomea, she was a homemaker, former independent sugar planter and member of Hilo Hooganji Mission Kyodan and Honomu Henjoji Mission Kyodan, Fujinkai and Kongo-ko. Ronald “Ronnie” Mark Rassner, 68, of Honokaa died Nov. 27 at home. Born in Detroit, he was a technology business manager for The American Management Association in New York, an associate professor of anthropology, languages and African oral tradition at the University of Wisconsin and Yale University, and Fulbright lecturer and associate professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil.
