“The Brave,” the latest work of dance theater created by Massive Company of Auckland, New Zealand, will play two stages on the Big Island next week.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Hawaii at Hilo Performing Arts Center and 7 p.m. Thursday at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
“The Brave,” created by the company and directed by Sam Scott and Carla Martell, is a bold and honest work that interweaves the stories of eight diverse Auckland men who share their most sincere ponderings on what it takes to be a man. The work confronts themes of family, love, loss, fear, hope, belonging, manhood and brotherhood. Combining “true” confessions with raw athleticism, “The Brave” lays it all on the line.
Shed the Peter Pan syndrome. It’s time to man up.
