HONOLULU (AP) — The Hawaii state Senate has voted to confirm a new head of the Department of Human Services.
Rachel Wong was confirmed unanimously as the director on Friday.
Wong has been at the helm of the agency since she was appointed by Gov. David Ige in January. She was most recently the vice president and chief operating officer of the Healthcare Association of Hawaii.
Wong says she’s appreciative of the opportunity to serve.
Sen. Suzanne Chun Oakland says Wong’s leadership abilities and extensive experience make her the right pick for the position.
