The Hawaii Community College International Education Committee will present a climate change lecture by Bulgarian Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar Dr. Tzvetan Spassov at 11 a.m. Thursday in Kaneikeao (Building 379, Room 1).
Admission is free and open to the public.
The lecture is titled, “The Impacts of Climate Change in the Agricultural Sector: U.S. Policies for Adaptation to a Warmer Climate.”
Participants can meet the speaker and enjoy light refreshments from 10:30-11 a.m. The hourlong lecture will include a question-and-answer period.
In Sofia, Bulgaria, Spassov is an adjunct lecturer in sustainable development at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Technical University of Sofia, (www.tu-sofia.bg) and the Department of National and International Security, New Bulgarian University, Sofia, (www.nbu.bg).
Spassov now is a Fulbright visiting research scholar at the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University. He is conducting research that analyzes various climate change impacts on the agricultural sector, and is looking at the rational and efficient use of available resources, renewable energy resources, new business and employment opportunities in the U.S., especially in the Midwest states.
