A SALUTE TO OUR VETERANS HILO BAY 5K
Where: Liliuokalani Gardens,Hilo
When: 7 a.m. July 4
Details: In its fifth year and known for its fun prizes (for runner and walker age groups, Most Patriotically Dressed, Youngest and Oldest, From Farthest Away, Best Decorated Wheelchair and Largest Group participating), the race will end this year with participants contributing their own flag at the “Place a Flag for Freedom” memorial listing all veterans honored. Registration can be done at www.asalutetoourveterans.org, picked up at various health and fitness organizations in Hilo or from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. July 3 or the morning of the event from 6-6:45 a.m. Fee of $25 goes toward VFW Post 3830’s Veteran Outreach Center.
