HONOLULU (AP) — The medical examiner has identified the two Schofield Barracks soldiers who went missing from Halona Blowhole this weekend and were apparently drowned.
Caleb Collins, 22, and Shyhein Andrews, 21, died after they were swept into the ocean Saturday during rough surf conditions. Their bodies were recovered Sunday.
The two men and a third friend were on rocks offshore Halona Beach Cove Saturday afternoon when a wave knocked one man into the water. One of the other men dove in to try to rescue him. The current pulled both out to sea.
25th Infantry Division spokesman Master Sgt. Mark St. Clair says all three men at the cove were soldiers and that their friends and families have the division’s thoughts and prayers.
