The American Red Cross Hawaii State Chapter-East Hawaii will conduct its Adult First Aid/CPR/AED class from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 13 in Hilo.
Cost of the course is $90. The class will meet at the chapter’s offices at 55 Ululani St. in Hilo.

Breastfeeding Week observed
In observance of World Breastfeeding Week, Aug. 1-7, the East Hawaii Perinatal Consortium commends Big Island employers for their support of lactating moms.
According to Audrey Inaba, RN, from the Hawaii District Health Office, women are the fastest-growing segment of the workforce. Family-friendly workplace policies help women balance work and family. Breastfeeding is a priority for mothers committed to providing optimum nutrition to their babies.

Big Isle students on dean’s lists
Two students from the Big Island were named to the dean’s list of their respective universities for the 2015 spring semester.
• Pilar Mendoza of Kurtistown, University of New England in Maine.
• Brentson Kinoshita of Hilo, Oregon Institute of Technology. Kinoshita is a mechanical engineering major.
CPAs award scholarships
The Big Island Chapter of the Hawaii Association of Public Accountants recently awarded four scholarships totaling $3,500 to four students pursuing accounting degrees.
The four awardees for the 2015-16 academic year are:
• Jubylen Teehee, 2014 Hawaii Community College graduate attending the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
• Lorena Dela Cruz, 1995 Waiakea High School graduate attending the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
• Jennifer Taniguchi, 2014 Waiakea High School graduate attending Creighton University in Nebraska.
• Aaron Zackoski, who attends the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
