The Judicial Selection Commission announced four nominees for the Kona Circuit Court seat that has been vacant since the retirement earlier this year of Judge Elizabeth Strance.
The four names were forwarded to Gov. David Ige, who has 30 days from receipt of the list to make his appointment.
The nominees are: Melvin H. Fujino, a District Court judge who’s been hearing Kona Circuit Court cases since Strance’s retirement; Laureen L. Martin, the county Corporation Counsel’s litigation chief; Robert D.S. Kim, a Kealakekua attorney specializing in personal injury, criminal defense, family matters and real estate law; and Gregory A. Ferren, a Honolulu attorney specializing in general commercial litigation, business and intellectual property law.
