“Shelter killing is the leading cause of death for healthy dogs and cats in the United States. It doesn’t have to be.”
That’s the premise of the award-winning film “Redemption” by Nathan Winograd, which will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at Tutu’s House, 64-1032 Mamalahoa Highway, No. 305, in Waimea. Admission is free.
“Redemption” is hosted by Big Island Dog Rescue and E Ola Na Ilio O Moku O Keawe (long live the dogs of the Big Island), an educational community-based organization whose mission is to bring the kill rate of adoptable and treatable animals at the Hawaii Island Humane Society to zero.
