Speaker to focus on ‘Assumptions’
Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center’s “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series continues with a discussion from noon-1 p.m. today at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, 655 Kilauea Ave., Hilo.
This monthly lunch-and-learn series features speakers discussing topics related to communication, dispute prevention and resolution and transforming conflict. This month’s speaker is John Hamilton on the topic “The Ladder of Assumptions: Exploring How Our Minds Work.”
Ku‘ikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch.

HVNP to show ‘Kalaupapa’ film
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park will show sister park movies to raise awareness of the other national parks in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands during its centennial year.
The Find Your Park on the Big Screen series kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kilauea Visitor Center Auditorium with the screening of “The Soul of Kalaupapa: Voices of Exile,” a 52-minute film by Fred E. Woods. There is no cost to watch the film but park entrance fees apply.
Discover what life was like for the patients and residents of Kalaupapa, removed from their families because of the fear and stigma of leprosy (Hansen’s disease). Today, Kalaupapa National Historical Park on Molokai shares the history and culture of the people and places of Kalaupapa’s past.
Rotary welcomes travel consultant
The Rotary Club of South Hilo recently inducted its newest member, Christianna Kistler.
Kistler is a travel itinerary specialist with Explore 24 Hawaii.
The Rotary Club of South Hilo meets at noon every Tuesday at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.

Network issues call to artists
Enrollment is now open for the Hawaii Island Network of Artists website.
Visual artists living on Hawaii Island (at least 50 percent of the time), earning all or part of their living from the sale of their art and in need of a license are eligible to enroll in the Hawaii Island Network of Artists and have their own Web page.
The page will feature an image of their art, a bit about their inspiration and a direct link to their website or contact information.
The cost is $99 per year and includes a free webinar, “Reframing How You Think About Your Art Business.”
