Born in Honolulu, he was a retired iron worker for Hawaiian Reinforced Steel and member of Iron Workers Union Local 625, and served as union trustee for 20 years. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Monday (June 6) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Doreen Spencer, Kathleen (Alfred) Agaran, Gwen (Wilder) Jamile, Stacey (Ricky Alaniz) Furtado, Selina (Dominic) Meditz and Rosie (Sterling) Miles; stepdaughter, Aileen (Robin) Alvarez; sons, Joseph Chaves, Sean (Noe Tom) Chaves and Wilfred (Jaye) Tabian; sisters, Sandy (Harry) Hueu, Mildred Ayau and Linda (Clarence) Santos; brother, Richard (Patricia) Chaves; sister-in-law, Diane Chaves; 36 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
