Three complete Air Force training
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Hannah M. May, Airman Melia D. Astronomo and Airman Alyssa K. Newpher graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.
The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
May is the daughter of Felix and Marissa May of Kailua-Kona and the sister of Jeremiah May. She graduated in 2015 from Konawaena High School.
Astronomo is the daughter of Joseph and Vonnie Astronomo of Captain Cook and the sister of Naneki Astronomo. She also graduated in 2015 from Konawaena.
Newpher is the daughter of Amy Anderson of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Brian Newpher of Hilo.
