The Volcano Art Center is offering a variety of adult and childrens’ ceramics classes with instructors Lisa Louise Adams, Chiu Leong and Emily Herb, and other Volcano potters soon will be joining the program’s teaching lineup.
There is a cozy classroom in Hale Hoʻomana, thanks to the generous efforts of glass artist Mike Mortara, as well as VAC executive director Mike Nelson and board chairman Hugh Jenkins.
Although there have been many donations of equipment and tools to get the ceramics program started, including an electric kiln from board member Linda Rosehill and several pottery wheels, the program could use a few more pieces of equipment and supplies and instructors are hoping to build a small raku kiln.
Anyone who like to make a donation of equipment, materials, supplies or cash to the ceramics program can contact Herb at 987-3472 or eherb@hawaii.rr.com, or Nelson at 967-8222 or mnelson@volcanoartcenter.org.
