Police investigate possibile drowning

Police are investigating a possible drowning in Puna.

At 4 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive woman who had been snorkeling at Pohoiki Beach. Upon police arrival, Fire Rescue personnel and county lifeguards were performing CPR, but couldn’t resuscitate the woman.

An autopsy was ordered and her identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
