Hospice of Hilo is inviting the public to a free in-service presentation titled “Miracles at the Bedside” from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday at the organization’s Community Building, 1011 Waianuenue Ave.
The session will be presented by Hospice of Hilo spiritual counselor Phillip Jones, who will explore miracles of faith, family reconciliation, unseen appearances and the end of life experience as a spectrum, including amazing stories, insights and wisdom for the living.
Jones has been a spiritual counselor with Hospice of Hilo since 2003. He studied in America and India with teachers of many faiths, participated in the Parliament of World Religions and organized a number of national interfaith conferences. He is an author, a national hospice speaker, psychotherapist and has led “rites of passages” retreats to sacred sites around the world.
Jones said he will address questions such as, “What do the dying see and feel that we do not? What do the last words and last sights of the dying communicate to us, the living? What is it about the dying experience that can lift a person from despair to transcendence? How do the world’s spiritual traditions counsel one who is nearing death?”
Hospice of Hilo provides specialized comfort care for patients facing a life-limiting or serious illness. Services are delivered to patients in their place of residence, or at the Pohai Malama a Harry &Jeanette Weinberg Care Center. In addition to hospice services, Hospice of Hilo also provides bereavement counseling to any and all residents who lost a loved one (regardless of whether the loved one received hospice care).
To attend the presentation, RSVP to Jeanette Mochida at 969-1733. For more information about Hospice of Hilo’s services, visit hospiceofhilo.org.
