Born in North Kohala, he was a retired construction laborer and member of Local Union 270 AFL-CIO Laborers’ International Union of North America. Celebration and remembrance 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Spencer Beach Park Pavilion. Survived by wife, Jane Higashi of Waimea; sons, Pono (Kuulei Miner) Hui of Paauhau and Rufus (Lado Adlakha) Hui of Santa Cruz, Calif.; daughter, Molly Hui of Waimea; sister, Edna Dela Cruz of Waimea; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Edith Borges Perreira, 90, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 29 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired telephone operator for the former Hawaiian Telephone Co. Services held.
