The Keaukaha Warriors opened defense of their Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League championship with a 10-0 mercy-rule victory against the Corsairs.
Shannon Camero went 4 for 4 and drove in three runs Sunday on opening day at Wong Stadium as the Warriors banged out 13 hits.
Kean Wong was 2 for 4 and Avery Kagawa went 2 for 5 for the Warriors, who broke the game open with a five-run third inning and ended it with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Aaron Correa pitched six shutout innings, scattering two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Jordan Tagawa yielded eight hits and seven runs in 2 2/3 innings.
David DeLuz Sr. of Big Island Toyota opened the game with the ceremonial first pitch.
This Sunday at Wong, the Waiakea Pirates start their season with a 10 a.m. game against the Corsairs.
Hilo High seeking water polo coach
Hilo High is accepting applications for a water polo coach for the spring season.
