The work of some of Hawaii Island’s brightest students will be on display during the 31st annual Hawaii District Science and Engineering Fair from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center.
More than 100 projects in a variety of science and engineering fields will showcase the exemplary work of students in sixth through 12th grades throughout Hawaii Island. Hawaii-based scientists and engineers will spend the day reviewing projects and interviewing students before selecting 40 to advance to the State Science and Engineering Fair in April at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu.
The science fair exhibits will then be available for free public viewing from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday-Thursday. Science fair participants will begin collecting their projects at noon on Feb. 24.
Hawaii District Science and Engineering Fair is jointly sponsored by the University of Hawaii at Hilo, the state and district departments of Education, the Hawaii Academy of Science, UH-Hilo Sigma Xi Chapter, ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center, the Robert and Alice Fujimoto Foundation and many others who make this fair a success each year.
