Albert T. Imoto, 87, of Hilo died May 3 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired regional sales manager for the former Aloha Airlines. Visitation 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday (May 17) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life at 6 p.m. Aloha attire. Survived by wife, Lorena “Rena” Imoto of Hilo; son, Guy Imoto of Hilo; daughters, Jody (Randal) Usui of Hilo and Cecily (Howard) Higa of Kaneohe, Oahu; hanai daughter, Dr. Joana Magno of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Norman George Purves, 63, of Hilo died Jan. 18 at home. Born in St. Paul, Minn., and raised in Portland, Ore., he was a recently retired instructor of physics and astronomy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, former tutor and former telescope operator at Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope.
