Dance instructor Angel Prince is offering a six-week series of evening salsa and tango classes beginning Thursday through Aug. 3 at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
The Thursday night classes are geared for all levels and no partner is necessary.
Prince has been teaching salsa and tango for more than 15 years, 12 on the Big Island, and is the director of Kahilu Performing Arts Classes and artistic director of Prince Dance Theatre.
She has a bachelor of arts in dance and psychology and is pursuing a master’s degree in tendencies of contemporary dance. Her training for salsa was completed in New York and she studied Argentine tango in Buenos Aires.
• The salsa classes are from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for beginners and intermediate-level dancers. The focus will be on turns, shines, partner connection and musicality. The fee is $75 for the entire series, $15 drop-in.
• The tango classes are from 6:45-8:15 p.m. for beginners and intermediate-level dancers. The focus will be on embrace, connection, musicality and basic- and intermediate-level step combinations. The fee is $100 for the entire series, $20 drop-in.
