Big Island Wellness Solutions began the fourth year of distributing its booklet, “Hawaii Healthy Me,” to every Hawaii Island fourth-grader.
The booklet, which promotes health lifestyles, is sponsored by KTA Super Stores, the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and the Margaret B. Shipman Foundation.
This year’s booklet added information about rat lungworm disease from the state Department of Health and cyber-bullying from the Hawaii County Prosecutor’s Office.
Included in the book are comments by Barry Taniguchi, KTA chairman and CEO.
“I discovered you can still be a busy person and eat healthy. I realize now how important taking care of one’s body is and feel it is important to make sure everyone on the Big Island lives a healthier lifestyle,” Taniguchi writes.
Audrey Wilson, president of nonprofit Big Island Wellness Solutions, shares with the booklet’s sponsors her passion for a healthier Hawaii and promotes the saying, “We are what we eat.”
The Rotary Club of South Hilo and other organizations are helping to hand out the booklets.
