Antone “Tony” Basque, 74, of Hilo died Sept. 30 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired sergeant with the Hawaii Police Department, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation from 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 25) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Flowers welcome. John Joseph Hamacher, 67, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 10. Born in Los Angeles, he retired as a construction contractor and was a member of the “Rat Pack” of volunteers doing small construction projects for nonprofits.
